Penn Models is a family run business which was established back in the early 1970s where we were based in, Penn,Wolverhampton and started by selling general hardware.
Peter and June Littley formed the business and due to Peter's love of Model Planes he soon started to introduce them into the shop which inevitably became known as Penn Models. After a couple of years the model side of the business proved more popular than the hardware so Peter and June took a gamble and moved into bigger premises just a short hop along the A449 to Penn village and Penn Models was truly born.
During the early days Peter and June's son Ian took a big interest in the business and hobby and spent most saturdays helping in the shop and going flying with his dad on sundays. Peter's love was flying, but Ian found his passion in racing model cars from which he has raced up and down the country in his youth and competed to international level. The business expanded further in Penn to incorporate the larger range of models and after a few years we settled in our present location in Kingswinford just a couple of miles down the road on the A491.
Peter with his passion for flying taught more people to fly than I've had hot dinners and even designed his own model aircraft, the most famous being The Moonraker. Sadly, Peter is no longer with us and Ian, June, family and friends all miss him but Ian's passion for the hobby and the business continue. |
